For Derrick De-Mond, success isn’t simply about booking the role—it’s about who you become on the way there. Beyond the camera, Derrick De-Mond is a husband, father and man of faith who believes there is always another level of growth waiting.
Acting may be a major part of his life, but it doesn’t define all of it. Family, loyalty, integrity and treating people well remain at his center—as does the belief that a dream doesn’t have an expiration date.
“Sometimes what you think is late is actually right on time.”
His passion began with a fascination for movies and the ability of great actors to make audiences forget they’re watching a performance.
Once De-Mond stepped in front of the camera himself, curiosity became purpose. Each character offered the chance to explore a different life, motivation and emotion—and every project left him wanting another.
That persistence recently produced an important milestone: booking a Chevrolet commercial as the principal “Cool Uncle.” Walking onto a production of that scale reinforced something powerful: I belong here.
But belonging doesn’t mean arriving.
Rejection has taught De-Mond patience, perspective and one of acting’s hardest lessons: not booking a role doesn’t mean you weren’t good enough. His job is to keep training, auditioning and preparing for the next door to open.
His ambitions remain big—television, feature films, national commercials and opportunities alongside exceptional actors and filmmakers—but his definition of success has expanded.
It’s about family. Faith. Growth. Persistence. And becoming better along the way.
“Success isn’t just arriving somewhere,” De-Mond says. “It’s becoming somebody along the way.”
